• I woke up this morning to find my computer turned off. When I turned it on I get a black screen that says, "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER." I am running Windows XP on a Compaq 250 Gig hard drives. It would be vital to me to not erase the information on those drives, or to somehow restore to an earlier point to save most of it. I have not tried anything yet as I have no clue what to do, and I don't want to inadvertantly do something wrong. If you know how to fix this please please help me.

  • Ok that is because you computer possibly got a virus. If not that then just turn on the computer and then on the first boot screen press "f8" constintly. Then click on restor or fix.

  • I do not think it is a virus but if you press f8 during boot up tou can try last known good option or you can selesct safe mode and when your sustem has booted you can go to system restore and select a restore point.
    hope this helps
    Trevor
